NVDC Processing Backlog Report

WikiTags/LinksWikiShare

BoatWiki - Resources

Introduction

Items submitted to National Vessel Documentation Center (NVDC) are not always processed immediately upon receipt. There may delays numbering into days, weeks, and even months depending on the type of application or filing and workload fluctuations. The backlog report is a monthly report that details the anticipated processing dates for each type of filing. It can be accessed from a link at the bottom of the NDVC's home page.

Processing

Vessel documentation submissions become effective on the date received at the documentation center. They are then categorized by type and rendered into queues pending their ultimate processing. Commercial filings are afforded automatic priority over those for vessels which are endorsed solely for recreational usage. However, recreational filings may also be given priority upon request under limited circumstance.

Conclusion

Delays in processing can become problematic for owners and lenders under certain circumstances. This should be anticipated according to backlog report and dealt with accordingly. Please help your fellow boaters by wiki-sharing any comments or experiences related to this subject.
