The USCG Boating Safety Division is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters. The Strategic Plan of the National Recreational Boating Safety Program describes the U.S. Coast Guard's goals and strategies to ensure the public has a safe, secure, and enjoyable recreational boating experience by implementing programs that minimize the loss of life, personal injury, and property damage while cooperating with environmental and national security efforts.

Boat Manufacturer's Identification Database (WikiLinks) - A searchable database of all Coast Guard assigned boat manufacturer identification Codes (MIC) can be found on the Boating safety Division's Website (WikiLinks). It can be searched by the MIC code (WikiTags) in all or selected states. The results include current details and contact information about the respective manufacturer. There is no charge for this service.

Factory Recall Database (WikiLinks) - The Boating Safety Division maintains a searchable database of factory recalls that is searchable by MIC code, manufacturer name, model or year. There is no charge for this service.

Safety Defect Report (WikiLinks) - Boaters may report any boat or equipment defects encountered by filing a comprehensive online report (WikiLinks) which can be found on the Safety Division's website.
