JUN 15, 2023 - A quarter in modern day boating terms relates the section of a boat's hull from amidships to the stern. It is also used to indicate the wind direction or that of a following sea with respect to a boat's position.
This term is not particularly relevant when it comes to a titling, registration or documentation. Although it may have some bearing on vessel admeasurement specifications.
As with most boating terms it is a good practice to know the meaning of such nomenclature.
