BoatWiki - Definitions

Definition

A documented vessel can be broadly defined as one that has been successfully enrolled in the U.S. Coast Guard's vessel documentation system. It is thereafter viewed as either "currently" or "previously" documented depending on whether the respective Certificate of Documentation has been subsequently withdrawn. Within the boating community, however, the term "documented" typically applies to a vessel that holds an active certificate.
