Nebraska Boat Registration Database Search

BoatWiki - Databases

Introduction

Feb 27, 2024 - Nebraska boat registration, title and lien records are maintained in a searchable database administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Boat and vehicle records are integrated within the same system  Access to such data is available for owners, qualified parties and the general public. The following guidelines will provide some insights on how to lookup boat registration and title information or obtain current and historical records in the State of Nebraska.

Online Access

The Nebraska DMV provides an online boat title and lien search portal (WikiLinks) that is available to the general public. However, this will not provide registration or ownership information due to privacy restrictions (WikiTags). In order to access boat data, simply scroll down to the Vehicle title inquiry button, select the boat option and enter the hull identification number. The results will contain respective boat title status and lien information as applicable.

Telephone Access

The Nebraska DMV may confirm the presence of a hull identification number in their system and verify a title or registration certificate in hand by telephone. However, it will not likely provide any further details, especially as related to ownership data. DMV contact information is available in WikiLinks.

Boat Record Request

Boat registration, title, lien and historical records may be obtained from the Nebraska DMV by submitting a request form (WikiLinks). However this is only available to owners, owner authorized and certain privileged parties as shown on the form. This is due to strict privacy restrictions (WikiLinks). DMV mailing and contact information is also shown on the form.

Historical Records

Historical or archived boat registration records are available from the Nebraska DMV by submitting a boat record request form (WikiTags). Such data is not, however, maintained indefinitely.

Bulk Records

Nebraska boat registration records in bulk may be available to certain commercial enterprises. Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles (see WikiTags) for more information in this regard.

Nationwide System

Nebraska subscribes to the Vessel Identification System (WikiTags) which is administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. This is a nationwide database wherein most states contribute boat registration data in real-time. Access is only available, however, to law enforcement agencies and other governmental institutions. Anyone concerned about a boat that may have been stolen, abandoned, involved in an incident or is being utilized for illicit activities in state jurisdictional areas should contact a local enforcement agency or boat registration office.

Conclusion

The information provided herein has been obtained from various sources and may be subject to change without notice. Any such concerns should be addressed directly with the respective government agency.
