Dec 5, 2023 - Boat registration and title records in Missouri are maintained in a database administered by the Department of Revenue (DOR). Boat information is integrated within the same system as motor vehicles. Access to the database is made available for boat owners and certain qualified parties. This summary will provide some insights on how to lookup and request boat registration or title information in the State of Missouri.

Online Access

Missouri does not offer an online boat registration or title search lookup service for the general public. Boat registration and title lookups or record printouts data must be implemented my submitting a boat record request form.

Telephone Access

The Missouri DOR may confirm the presence of a boat hull identification number in the database system and verify a registration or title certificate in hand by telephone. However, it will not likely provide other detailed information. DOR contact information is available in WikiLinks.

Boat Record Request Form

Boat registration record requests in Missouri for owner and non-owners must be submitted in writing. A special form for owners can be found in WikiLinks. Access to non-owners is, however, restricted to certain authorized parties (WikiTags). A form is also available for non-owners (WikiLinks), but the requester must first apply for a security code (WikiLinks). Submission information is available on the respective forms.

Historical Records

Historical and archived boat registration or title records are available from the Missouri DOR in conjunction with the records access information provided in this page. However, boat records are not maintained indefinitely.

Bulk Records

Boat registration records in Missouri may be available as bulk downloads to certain qualified entities. Contact the DOR (WikiLinks) for more information.

Nationwide System

The State of Missouri participates in the Vessel Identification System (WikiTags) which is administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. This is a nationwide database wherein most states contribute boat registration data in real-time. Access is only available, however, to law enforcement agencies and other governmental institutions. Anyone concerned about a boat that may have been stolen, abandoned, involved in an incident or is being utilized for illicit activities in state jurisdictional areas should contact a local enforcement agency or boat registration office.

The information provided herein has been obtained from various sources and is subject to change without notice. Any such concerns should be addressed with the respective government agency.
