BoatWiki - Databases

The U.S. Coast Guard is required by law to publish a periodic listing of all currently documented vessels. It is available to the general public for download from the Home Port website and there is no charge for the service. Each record contains almost 70 fields of detailed information about documented vessels, including certificate expiration dates. However, owner names and addresses are now being redacted except for vessels owned by businesses and other legal entities. A link to the download site and further information is available from the above WikiTags.

The file can be downloaded as raw data in text delimited, Microsoft Access, or Microsoft Excel formats. However, it is difficult for the layperson to decipher and organize such data into a searchable database. This same information is available from other searchable resources which can be found in the Database section of BoatWiki.
