Georgia Boat Registration Database
BoatWiki - Databases
Introduction
Georgia is one of the few states that provides open public access to their boat registration records. It is easily available online at no cost without the need for setting up an account.
Access
The database can be accessed by wiki-linking to the Department of Natural Resources boat registration search website. Here you will be given temporary access by providing your name and email address. This is followed by a return email with a link to the search page which is good for one hour without re-enlisting. You can then search by a specific registration number, download all records for a particular county, or download the entire database.
Data Provided
The registration number search will produce an Adobe PDF showing a considerable amount of detail about the owner, boat, registration status, and any active liens. County and statewide downloads are provided in a comma separated value (CSV) text format. These can be subsequently imported into a spreadsheet database application such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access.
Conclusion
This is a great resource which is unfortunately unavailable in most other states due to their consumer privacy restrictions. However, we have no confirmation thus far as to whether the database is in real-time or periodically updated.
Please support your fellow boaters by wiki-sharing any comments or experiences with this database.
