FCC Radio License Search WikiTags/Links WikiShare
BoatWiki - Databases
Introduction
Licensing is no longer required to use marine VHF radios, any type of EPIRB, any type of radar, GPS or LORAN receivers, depth finders, and CB radios. However, boats that use MF/HF single side-band radio, satellite communications, or telegraphy must continue to be licensed. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) maintains a database showing details about such licenses and licensees. This can be useful in locating information about certain boat owners or operators as the results include their names and addresses.
Access
The FCC database is available to the general public and can be accessed through the above WikiTags link. There is no charge for this service. Search options include an official Coast Guard documentation number, state registration number, hailing port and call sign. Call signs for Coast Guard documented vessels can be found in some of the vessel documentation search results.
Conclusion
This type of search is a hit and miss proposition, but worth checking out if you have an urgent need for such information.
