Boat History Report

BoatWiki - Databases

Boat History Report is a long standing service that promotes a wide range of background data with an emphasis on damages and salvage. The reports also contain details related to boat registration and vessel documentation. Their home page contains a real-time lookup feature that is helpful in identifying whether a vessel is USCG documented or may have been registered in a particular state. Any further details are subject to the payment of fees.

Their website can be accessed from the WikiLinks for this page. It is then a matter of entering a hull identification number, state registration number or official USCG documentation number. The dialog subsequently responds with any known hits. At this juncture you are confronted with purchasing the single report or subscribing to multiple reports. Compared to other services of this nature, the fees are a bit pricey.

Data Provided

It should be noted that as with most boat search vendors, their results do not provide ownership names and contact information. It is also a hit and miss proposition with regard to whether it's findings are fully conclusive. The reports are fairly clean and  straight forward, although their Indicators of a clear or clean result can be misleading.

Boat History report aspires to become the equivalent of a Carfax for the boating industry. A such their extensive marketing efforts are typically amplified when it comes to representations. Customer support appears reasonably adequate, although the reviews we have seen thus far are quite mixed regarding cost to value.
