Introduction

Feb 14, 2024 - Boat title and registration records in American Samoa are maintained in a database administered by the Department of Port Administration (DPA). American Samoa boat registration search lookups and record copies in are made available to owners and certain qualified parties. The following information will provide some insights on how to go about obtaining boat registration data in the Territory of American Samoa.

Online Access

The American Samoa DPA does not facilitate online access to boat registration records for owners or the general public. Such records can, however, be obtained by other means as described in this page.

Telephone Access

The American Samoa DPA may confirm the presence of a boat hull identification number in the database system or verify a registration certificate in hand by telephone. However, it will not likely provide other detailed information. DPA contact information is available in WikiLinks.

Boat Record Request Form

A person may request from the Samoa Department of Port Administration, vessel numbering and registration records and historical information which is retrievable from the database system. However, the department must be satisfied that the request is reasonable and related to a boating safety purpose. There may be fees involved for payment of the cost of retrieval and furnishing of the information requested.  A form is also available for such request in WikiTags. DPA contact information and the address can be found in WikiTags.

Historical Records

Historical and archived boat registration records are available from American Samoa in conjunction with the records access information provided in this page. However, boat records are not maintained indefinitely in the database system so you will need to contact the DPA (WikiLinks) in order to determine such limitations.

Bulk Records

Boat title and registration records in American Samoa may be available as bulk downloads to certain qualified entities. Contact the DPA (WikiTags) for more information.

Nationwide System

American Samoa subscribes to the Vessel Identification System (WikiTags) which is administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. This is a nationwide database wherein most states contribute boat registration data in real-time. Access is only available, however, to law enforcement agencies and other governmental institutions. Anyone concerned about a boat that may have been stolen, abandoned, involved in an incident or is being utilized for illicit activities in state jurisdictional areas should contact a local enforcement agency or boat registration office.

Conclusion

The information provided herein has been obtained from various sources and is subject to change without notice. Any such concerns should be addressed with the respective government agency.
